East DECA Continues Community Service Initiatives through COVID-19

East DECA held a highly successful toy drive from November 9 to December 9 for the Kisses for Kyle foundation! East DECA students and families purchased gifts for specific families in need through this holiday toy drive run in conjunction with PA DECA. Kisses for Kyle redirects these gifts to children suffering with childhood cancer and other cancer related stresses.

Additionally, East DECA juniors Nikita Gandhi, Alaina Newton, and Grace Treon held a drive-by donation drop off at East HS on November 14. Cleaning supplies, beauty products, children’s books, paper towels, and other materials were donated to aid Home of the Sparrow, a local women’s shelter. These students organized this event in conjunction with their community giving product for the 2021 SCDC!

An educational supplies drive was also held to benefit the Melton Center with the Minding Melton club here at East HS! Binders, masks, hand-sanitizers, crayons, headphones, and many other materials were donated by East DECA and Minding Melton club members to benefit underprivileged students in the West Chester area.

January 16 – A big day for East DECA!

What a day, not sure how we fit everything in but thank you to the amazing families and students for their donations to make our Safe Harbor lunches!

We did a quick zoom session with Julia Pincus in our marketing class on marketing Airbnb properties.

Later in the day, Brandon Walters, DECA alumni from 2009, spoke to our class along with his gym owner from Legion Fitness in Exton.

Lastly, we hosted a tower building marketing event for East DECA! And at the end of the day, I thought I might need a coffee!
